Assumed that wih the price tag this had, that it would be from the original Hirbawi factory in Al Khaleel - really disappointed to find a Made in China label on my item when it arrived.
I only buy Hirbawi/Palestinian ones to support the last-standing kuffoyeh factory in Palestine.
Cheap copies where Palestinian culture is appropriated by Chinese vendors and making already struggling Palestinians in their livelihood is not acceptable.
We should be supporting Palestinian businesses.
It would have helped if it was included in the item description yhat this was not an original from Al-Khaleel in Palestine, but a Made in China one - this will help people make informed decisions.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We completely understand and respect your wish to support Palestinian manufacturers, particularly the Hirbawi factory in Al-Khalil.
However, we would like to clarify that we have never advertised our keffiyehs as genuine Hirbawi products or claimed they are manufactured in Palestine.
Kites4Palestine is a community-led fundraising initiative, selling merchandise to help fund humanitarian work through other organisations including Banna Al Khayri. We also support trauma therapy initiatives alongside doctors in the West Bank and projects benefiting Palestinian refugee children in Australia, Italy and Lebanon.
We have experienced the difficulties of moving goods into Palestine first hand, including items intended for children in the West Bank being refused entry by Israeli authorities. Sourcing goods from Palestine presents significant challenges too.
We wholeheartedly support Palestinian businesses and the preservation of Palestinian heritage. Our merchandise simply provides another means of raising funds to support Palestinian communities, particularly vulnerable children affected by conflict and displacement.
We appreciate your point about transparency. While we have never claimed these items are Palestinian-made, we acknowledge that clearly stating their country of manufacture would help customers make informed decisions.
