Global Gaza Kite Weekend: 100+ Locations, One Sky, One Message

Global Gaza Kite Weekend: 100+ Locations, One Sky, One Message

On 12–13 September, the sky belonged to Gaza.

From parks and beaches to schoolyards and city squares, over 100 locations around the world came together for the Global Gaza Kite Weekend — a global act of solidarity, joy, and defiance. Thousands of people flew kites. Thousands more made them, shared them, and sent them soaring.

And every single one carried the same message: let children play.

Why Kites?

A kite is one of the simplest things a child can hold. Paper, string, a bit of wind — and suddenly the sky was theirs.

That's exactly why it mattered. In Gaza, children are being denied that simplest act of play. Kites have been banned. Joy itself has become something to police.

So we took to the skies. Not with anger alone, but with the one thing they cannot take away: a child's right to play, to dream, and to live free from fear.

100+ Locations, One Movement

What started as a call to action became something far bigger than any of us expected.

Over 100 locations took part across the world — from the UK to across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, North America, and beyond. Communities gathered. Families brought their children. Strangers became part of something shared.

Every kite that was made was beautiful. Every single one mattered.

Thank You

To every single person who showed up, made a kite, flew a kite, shared a post, or sent us footage — thank you.

We worked with Rising Dreams and many other organisations around the world, alongside the charities Banna Al Khayri and Bologna Per Gaza.

But it was individuals, families, and communities everywhere who carried this. You made it what it was.

We Couldn't Fit Everything In

We put together a compilation of the weekend — and honestly, we wish we could have included every single thing.

So if you saw yourself in the video, comment below and tell us where you participated from. Let's fill the comments with cities, countries, and kites from all over the world.

Didn't make the cut? We still want your footage. Send us your kite flying videos and photos:

This Isn't Over

They are banning kites. Children are being denied the simplest act of play, of joy, of being a child.

That is ridiculous. That is unjust. And we will not stay quiet about it.

We need to make more noise. Louder. Everywhere. Because this cannot continue.

Keep flying. Keep sharing. Keep standing with Gaza.
